Richard Hewitt
Research InterestsRichard Hewitt joined the UEA School of Education, with responsibility for leading the Egyptian Educators’ Programme, in September 2006. Until August, Richard had been for 20 years Headmaster of Hartismere High School in Eye, Suffolk Whilst the majority of his career has been spent in schools, he has had experience in Further and Higher Education. Entering teaching in 1968, Richard worked in Hampshire and Essex before moving to a Deputy Headship in Newbury, Berkshire, in 1982, where he was responsible for the Curriculum. He has maintained his teaching commitment throughout his career, principally with English, History, RE and Citizenship. Particular areas of interest include 14-19 development, transition at 18+, utilisation and collegiate approaches to development and management issues. Richard lacks sympathy for excessive bureaucracy. Keen to develop the Egyptian Educators’ Programme, Richard wishes to build on the excellent foundations already laid by raising standards of quality and achievement, involving the Egyptian Programme more centrally with the work of the School of Education, and broadening the client base. It is hoped to achieve continued involvement of our Educators with the University.
