Peter trained as a teacher at Keswick Hall of Education qualifying in
1975. He subsequently obtained a degree in Mathematics and Statistics
from the Open University in 1981.

He taught in secondary education for almost thirty years specialising in
Mathematics and Computer Studies at Northgate High School, Dereham and
at one time held the post of head of Computer Studies. Following early
retirement in 1995 he worked as a supply teacher in various schools in
and around Norwich.
