Professor Les Tickle is Emeritus Professor of Education. His research interests are in curriculum development; art education; and teacher education. He has published widely on the curriculum of schools, initial teacher education, continuing professional development of teachers, the induction of new teachers, and the arts in education. An abiding passion for the visual arts drives his research and his work with teachers in that field. Books recently published include The Induction of New Teachers (1994); Understanding Art in Primary Schools (1996); Teacher Induction: The Way Ahead (2001) and Visual Arts Education in Museums and Galleries (2004).
