The US-based Language Log takes issue with the following remark in a column in Times Higher disparaging Wikipedia:

I came across this post on a language blog of significant reputation. Although I tend to disagree with much of the linguistics on the blog, I thought this was an interesting micro-rant. Times Higher as a hobbyist magazine with the hobby being whining, indeed! It would be interesting to see some of the local perspective.
