Scientists from the University of East Anglia will help families explore ‘the science of life’ at a free hands-on event in Norwich.

Blackboard and The Portal (i.e. the Blackboard Learning System and Community System) are now available again following the work to upgrade to the latest software and replace the hardware. If you are still seeing The Portal down page, try rebooting your computer. If you notice any further problems, could you report them to the staff IT helpdesk (x2345 staff.help@uea.ac.uk).

A major international conference celebrating the life and work of cult author WG Sebald will be staged at UEA next month.

This evening there will be work taking place on the UEA website which will mean that the Polopoly editor will be unavailable from 5pm onwards. It also means that the public website should be seen as at risk. This work is to result in pages created in Polopoly having the web address http://www.uea.ac.uk and due to the complex nature of the work there may be some issues in the next few days with web addresses and linking between pages. Essential maintenance work will be carried out on the student and staff/postgraduate mailservers on Wednesday 20 August from 17:30 - 18:30. During this time there will be no access to email accounts held on these servers (imap.uea.ac.uk, pop.uea.ac.uk, smtp.uea.ac.uk, smtpstudent.uea.ac.uk). This will NOT impact Exchange users.

The NHS and private health care are not providing good enough basic care to a large portion of the population in England, especially older and frailer people, according to a major new survey.
